Sika® ViscoCrete® ACE 8516

ENGINEERED SUPERPLASTICIZER FOR HIGH EARLY STRENGTH

Sika® ViscoCrete® ACE 8516 is modified poly-carboxylic ether (PCE) based superplasticizer. A specifically formulation active ingredient, designed with Sika® ViscoCrete® ACE 8516 offers excellent dispersion of cement at low water binder ratio and exceptional early strength development. The rapid development of early strength of Sika® ViscoCrete® ACE 8516 allows for zero or minimum application of heating curing processes. The combination of early strength, slump retention and late strength development allows meet demanding Sika® ViscoCrete® ACE 8516 to concreting requirements, often exceeding the performance of conventional superplasticisers. Sika® ViscoCrete® ACE 8516 has a different chemical structure from the traditional superplasticisers. It consists of unique polycarboxylate ether polymer with long lateral chains. This greatly improves cement dispersion. The sulphonic groups of the polymer chains increase the negative charge on the surface of the cement particle and dispersion of the cement occurs by electrostatic repulsion. At the start of the mixing process the same electrostatic dispersion occurs as described previously, but the presence of the lateral chains, linked to the polymer backbone, generate a steric hindrance, which stabilize the cement particles capacity to separate and disperse. This mechanism provides high workability concrete with greatly reduced water demand.   Sika® ViscoCrete® ACE 8516 meets ASTM C494/C494M requirements for Type F and it is also compatible with all cements meeting the ASTM standards.
