Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20

FOAMING AGENT FOR CONCRETE MILK, MORTAR AND CONCRETE

Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20 is a foaming agent for obtaining extremely uniform and highly entrained air in stable and relatively independent foam. In case where stable foam in cement milk is considered difficult, Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20 in proper dosage enables to produce uniform and stable foam cement milk. Moreover using perlight, artificial lightweight aggregate (ALA) or other special materials, it enables to produce economically excellent lightweight, heat-insulting and sound absorbing foamed mortar and concrete.

  • Achieves excellent foaming performance not only in cement milk but also mortar and concrete.
  • Improves plasticity and prevent materials segregation.
  • Reduces bleeding – consequently minimizes sedimentation.
  • By varying the dosage rate, stable and independent fine foam can be produced arbitrary (approx. 70% in cement milk, 60% in mortar and 30% in concrete).
  • Produce fine surface hardened products with excellent properties of light weight, heat-insulation and sound absorbing, etc.
  • Suitable for either “Pre-Foamed” or “Ordinary Mixing” method.
  • Maintain good working at tunnel, underground jobs, etc. due to scentless agent.

Overview

Usage

  • All sort of lightweight filling for bank of tunnel entrance, expansion of roads, construction of road embankment on soft ground, etc. (Refer “Foamed Cement Banking Method” developed by Japan Highway Public Corporation).
  • Back filling of tunnel lining, making flat subsoil on slopes, soft ground treatment, etc.
  • Filling various unused pipes, etc.
  • Heat-insulation products, ALC panels, safety box, etc. particularly requiring fine surface.
 
  • Roof slabs, cap flashing and raising floor level.
  • The substrate of waterproofing in decks roofs, balconies, etc., slab mortar and concrete on the ground and the substrate of pedestrian deck.
  • Other various air-entrained cement and foamed mortar and concrete application.

Shelf life

12 months from date of production if stored properly in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging.

Storage conditions

Store in dry conditions at temperatures between +10 °C and +35 °C. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.

Concreting guidance

The standard rules of good concreting practice, concerning production and placing, are to be followed. Laboratory trials shall be carried out before concreting on site, especially when using a new mix design or producing new concrete components. Fresh concrete must be cured properly and curing applied as early as possible.

Application

Compatibility

Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20 may be combined with many other Sika products. Important: Always conduct trials before combining products in specific mixes and contact our Technical Service Department for information and advice about any specific combinations.

Dispensing

Pre – Foamed Method on site :

  • Dilute Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20 with water at ratio of 1:20 to 1:39.
  • Control amount of compressed air and flow of diluted Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20 on the foam generator equipment to obtain appropriate optimum foam volume (Volume of foam/Volume of dilutes Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20) around 20-25 times.
  • Introduce foam into either continuous mixer or agitator truck directly and mix well with mortar or concrete. Then place foamed mortar/concrete by pump, etc.
  • Consult with local field representative about foaming machine, etc. in detail.

Ordinary Mix Method at mixing plant :

  • Introduce undiluted Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20 into mixing water. In this case, amount of Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20 should be counted as a part of mixing water.
  • Introduce aggregate and cement into the mixer and then add mixing water with Sika® Stabilizer SLF 20. Mix well water for 2 times or more than the ordinary mix.

Recommended dosage

Dosage varies considerably according to employed materials, temperature, mix-design, mixing procedure, etc. Therefore, trial mix should be made to determine the appropriate dosage.
