Sika® Plastiment® PZ 410

SET RETARDING AND PLASTICIZING ADMIXTURE

Sika® Plastiment® PZ 410 is a plasticizer which disperses and deflocculates cement particles while delaying the hydration process, thereby retarding the initial and final set.
It can be used to improve workability without the addition of extra water, or to allow reductions in the free water content. Due to improved dispersion of the cement particles the process of hydration proceeds under the optimum conditions, leading to improved strength characteristics with or without reduction in free water. Compliant to standard ASTM C 494/494M Type B & D.

Composition

Aqueous solution of sodium gluconate

Shelf life

12 months from date of production if stored properly in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging.

Storage conditions

Store in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +35 °C. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.

Compatibility

Sika® Plastiment® PZ 410 may be combined with the following products:

Sika® Plastiment® PZ 410 is compatible with all types of Portland cement including S.R.C.

Recommended dosage

0.10 – 0.70 L per 100 Kg of cementitious.

Other dosages may also be used depending on the specific working conditions. Higher dosage than the above can be used for concrete which requires long hours of slump retention.

The dosage rate can be increased to overcome difficulties in quality of cement and aggregates, high temperature, difficult placing conditions, and other special concrete requirement.

Concrete trial mix shall be carried out to confirm the effective dosage and its effect to concrete properties.

APPLICATION

Sika® Plastiment® PZ 410 should be dispensed directly into the mixing water prior to its addition to the aggregates. When accidental overdosing occurs, Sika® Plastiment® PZ 410 not entrain excessive amounts of air, however the set retarding effect increases. During this period the concrete must be kept moist in order to prevent premature drying out.
