Sikament®-525

MID-RANGE WATER REDUCING/SUPERPLASTICISING ADMIXTURE

A mid-range water reducing/superplasticising admixture for providing substantial water reduction and good workability retention for the production of high performance concrete.

Sikament®-525 provides the following properties :
  • Workability is greatly improved. Increased placeability in slender components with packed reinforcement
  • Water reduction upto 10 % – 15 % will produce more than 20 % increase in 7 and 28 days compressive strength
  • Significantly reduces risk of segregation and bleeding
  • Less sensitive to variations in cement and aggregate types
  • Improved cohesion properties
  • Improved rheology

Sikament®-525 is used in the production of concrete in:

Composition

Modified Naphthalene Formaldehyde Sulfonate

Shelf life

12 months from date of production if stored properly in undamaged unopened, original sealed packaging.

Storage conditions

Store in dry conditions at temperatures between +10 °C and +35 °C. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.

Total chloride ion content

< 0.1 % w/w

 

Concreting guidance

The standard rules of good concreting practice, concerning production and placing, are to be followed. Laboratory trials before concreting on site are strongly recommended when using a new mix design or producing new concrete components. Fresh concrete must be cured properly and as early as possible.

Specific advice

Accidental overdosing of Sikament®-525 causes an extension of the initial set however, no excessive amount of additional air will be entrained.

Application

Compatibility

Sikament®-525 may be combined with the following products:

  •     Plastiment® P121R
  •     Plastiment® VZ
  •     Sika® Fume
  •     SikaFibre®

Do not use sikament series combined with viscocrete / viscoflow series.

To produce flowing and / or self-compacting concrete, special concrete mix design is required.

Pre-trials are recommended and mandatory if combinations with the above products are required.

DISPENSING

Sikament®-525 can be added to the mixing water prior to its addition to the aggregates or as in most cases, it can be added directly to the freshly mixed concrete.

When added directly to the freshly mixed concrete, the plasticizing effect is more pronounced.


When accidental overdosing occurs, Sikament®-525 does not entrain excessive amounts of air, however workability, risk of segregation and set retarding effect may increase.

Recommended dosage

Sikament®-525 can be used at the dose rate 0.35 % - 1.20 % by total weight of cementitious material depending on requirements concerning workability and strength. It is recommended that trial mixes be conducted to determine the exact dosage rate required.


Note :
Typical dose rate is 0.50 % - 0.60 % by weight of cementitious material for normal precast concrete application.
