PLASTER AND BRICK ADHESIVE

SikaWall®-161 Plaster Mix is a one component, pre-packed polymer modified mortar combining cement with selected grades of sand and several admixtures; used as light brick plaster, red brick plaster, and red brick adhesive.

Usage

For plaster can be applied on various surface, such as :
  • Light brick and red brick surface.
  • Concrete surface that have been treated with bonding agent (e.g. Sika Latex® or SikaBond® NV)
  • For non-exposed application

Mixing ratio

Water : SikaWall®-161 Plaster Mix1 : ± 3.5 (by volume)

 

Layer thickness

For red brick laying : ~ 10 mm (max. thickness 15 mm)
For plastering : min. 5 mm (max. thickness 15 mm)

Ambient air temperature

+8 °C to +40 °C

Pot Life

~1 hours (at +30 °C)

Waiting time to overcoating

As brick adhesive before plaster - after 24 h*
As plaster before skim coat - after 7 d*

*Note : Times are approximate and will be effected by changing ambient conditions particulary temperature and relative humidity. Low temperature and high relative humidity retard curing, while high temperature and low relative air humidity accelerate curing progression.

~1.25 m2 per 40 kg bag (based on 10 mm thickness)*

*depend on substrate surface profile and layer thickness
Application steps

MIXING

  • Pour 6 - 6.4 Litre of water into mixing vessel then add SikaWall®-161 Plaster Mix slowly and mix properly
  • Mixing time is ~3 minutes. A slow speed mixer is recommended (300 - 600 rpm)
 

APPLICATION

As Brick Adhesive

  • Apply with scoop then fix the brick. Proceed to apply while SikaWall®-161 Plaster Mix is still wet.
  • Waiting time before plaster application minimum 24 hours. To get the best result use SikaWall®-161 Plaster Mix.

  

As Plaster

  • Apply with flat trowel.
  • Waiting time before skim coat application minimum 7 days. To get the best result use SikaWall®-181 SkimCoat.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use.

Hardened / cured material can only be mechanically removed.
